By responsible AI, we mean the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) in a manner that is ethical,transparent, reliable, and aligned with human values.<\/p>\n<p>This rather bold claim follows the recent news of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ethz.ch\/en\/news-and-events\/eth-news\/news\/2023\/12\/press-release-joint-initiative-for-trustworthy-ai.html\" rel=\"noopener\">the launch of the Swiss AI Initiative by EPFL and ETH Zurich<\/a><\/span>, whose objective is to foster the creation and application of trustworthy and reliable artificial intelligence. It is corroborated by Trust Valley partner PwC Switzerland\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pwc.ch\/en\/press\/pwc-switzerland-invests-to-ai-capabilities.html\" rel=\"noopener\">pledge to invest CHF 50 million over the next three years to enhance its AI capabilities<\/a><\/span> with a strong focus on what the company calls \u00ab a responsible approach to AI \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Trust Valley, as the Swiss centre of excellence for digital trust and cybersecurity, champions the materialisation of this vision and role for Switzerland. Given the profound and expanding influence of AI, fostering AI that is developed and applied with responsibility and ethical integrity becomes a cornerstone for a safe, secure and responsible digital economy \u2014 a vision that is shared and advanced by Trust Valley and its 50+ members.<\/p>\n<p>Lately Trust Valley intensified its efforts to set the stage for a future where AI is synonymous with responsibility and trust. These include creating safe and natural platforms for debate, awareness-raising and exchanges, as well as engaging in expert discussions on the topic, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <span 2023<\/a><\/span>, organised in partnership with<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pwc.ch\/en\/services\/consulting\/data-analytics\/what-is-responsible-ai.html\" rel=\"noopener\"> PwC Switzerland<\/a> <\/span>and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/eotfoundation.ch\/\" rel=\"noopener\">the Economy of Trust Foundation<\/a><\/span>, to explore the intersections of trust and artificial intelligence and reflect on the impacts of AI in the trust economy.<\/li>\n<li>Trust Valley Day 2023 featured <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a target=\"_blank\" \u2013 Tech Hub, Anne-Marie Kermarrec Professor \u2013 EPFL and Ilia Kolochenko CEO \u2013 ImmuniWeb<\/li>\n<li>Trust Valley CEO Lennig Pedron participated in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.graduateinstitute.ch\/communications\/news\/ethics-heart-ai\" rel=\"noopener\">a group discussion on AI and ethics with Professor Lyse Langlois<\/a><\/span> from the International Observatory on the societal impacts of AI and digital technologies (OBVIA), organised by the Graduate Institute<\/li>\n<li>Trust Valley CEO Lennig Pedron acceleration programme, Trust Valley has been supporting early-stage companies developing responsible AI solutions, including <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/brside.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Brightside<\/a><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.csky.ai\" on AI predominantly focuses on regulatory frameworks, like <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/12\/08\/technology\/eu-ai-act-regulation.html\" rel=\"noopener\">the EU AI Act.<\/a>\u00a0<\/span> Switzerland chairs <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/artificial-intelligence\/cai\" rel=\"noopener\">the Council of Europe Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAI)<\/a><\/span>
